COMMUNITY CONSIGNMENT
COMMUNITY MEMBERS with items to consign can bring them into the store during open hours. We will post specific collection times and items on our Facebook Page (Miss Mercantile Marketplace) so please follow that page to get information in real-time. The easiest way to inquire about items you'd like to consign is through email. Please email Miss Mercantile Marketplace at Info@missmercantilemarket.com
In the "subject" line please write "Consignment"
In the body of the email, tell me what items you are looking to consign, their condition, any flaws or damage, and include general pictures. This is a way to streamline the process, reach me faster, and avoid bringing items to the store that we aren't accepting at that time.
We use a straight 50/50 commission split. We may offer online-consignment when we do not have in-store space. You decide what items are okay to list online and what items you only want featured in the store.
Please Note: Some higher-value items sold ONLY ONLINE may be offered different commission rates. If your item is valued over $400 your rate-split will start at 60/40 (you keep 60% of the net profits). If your item is valued over $800 you will be offered a commission rate split up to 70/30 (you keep 70% of the net profits).
In general, we do not return unsold online-only items. They are donated to various local charities whenever possible. There are exceptions such as specialty items and collectibles, but we will go over everything together and nothing will be done without your marked consent.
Items located in our brick-and-mortar store should be picked up at the end of your consignment period. We will hold your items on the sales floor for up to 7 days past your consignment period and they will be marked down 75%. If you haven't collected your items, we will assume they are donations.
Local Consignors: You can come in and pick up your sales-profit via cash or check any time after your consignment period ends. Due to strict accounting protocols we are unable to issue payouts in cash or check beyond 45 days past your consignment period. After 45 days, your pay-out will automatically become in-store credit minus a 15% accounting fee. Please be sure to set reminders for important dates. I have just purchased software to allow consignors to have a portal to their accounts. You will be able to see what sells in real-time!
On-Line Consignors: Your profit-share will be offered via check through the mail or you can choose to pick it up in our store. Checks will be mailed at the end of the first week after your consignment period ends OR one week after selling all of your consignment items.
We are not appraisers. However, we use multiple apps, data points, and search engines to calculate a market-rate for each item. In-demand, on-trend, or certain specialty collector items may find buyers at a higher price-point. I will do everything to get you the best price possible.
Furniture will be featured for 120 days. After 120 days please pick up any unsold furniture or it will be donated. We may discount original furniture prices by 10-20% any time after 30 days. After 90 days furniture will be discounted up to 50%. After your consignment period of 120 days, you will have 7 days to pick up any unsold furniture or it will become a donation. Furniture held beyond your 120 day contract will be marked down 75%.
All other items will be featured for 90 days. We may discount items after 30 days by 10-20% as necessary. Items not sold after 60 days will be discounted 30-50%. Items not picked up after your consignment period ends will be marked down 75% and then donated after 7 days past your consignment contract.
Details:
All items must be clean and odor-free.
Clothing should be brought in freshly laundered, odor and wrinkle-free, on hangers or neatly folded. For everyday clothing, we are only taking name-brand clothing in excellent-used condition based on seasonal interest. Many of our regular clothing items and accessories will be moved to our off-site office and listed online. The commission split is typically 50/50 when sold from our brick-and-mortar store. However, online is a 40/60 split due to the additional costs and work involved to photograph, write descriptions, upload to various marketing channels, and package for shipment to customers. We will offer shipping for most clothing and accessories as well as "in-store pickup." This allows your items to have a higher chance of selling. Online clothing and accessories that don't sell after 90 days will be donated.
Examples of Items we accept:
Home decor, seasonal decor (in season)
Small to medium sized furniture pieces
Accessories
Jewelry
Plus:
High-quality sports memorabilia featuring the Detroit Red Wings, Lions, and Tigers. This includes framed photos, jerseys, autographed items, sweatshirts and hoodies. We are not, currently, accepting Detroit Pistons items unless they are from the 1900's.
We also accept clothing, collectibles, and accessory items related to Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Michigan Tech, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and Grand Valley.
We love books! If you are setting up an account with us, we will accept excellent-used condition specialty books (travel, cookbooks, etc) classics, and current books. Most books will be listed online with a 40/60 commission. Books will not be returned. Unsold books will be donated or added to our "free" library.
Examples of Vintage/Retro/Antique items we accept include records, costume jewelry, accessories, handbags, clothing, home goods, furniture, and decor.
I mentioned tools in our About The Marketplace section. Please do not bring in anything that has oil, grease, or any other odorous contaminants. Garden items will be accepted during the spring and summer months. This includes garden decor, decorative planters and pots, small furniture, etc.
If you are interested in becoming a frequent consignor, please let me know. I can set up a more-detailed account for you with a private online portal!
As mentioned, I will work hard to get you the best price for all items we accept. Please reach out to us at info@missmercantilemarket.com to discuss your needs.
